Trying to get python2.7 and Mysql to work together

Hello everyone on the stackoverflow forums,
I am very new to python, but not coding in general. I originally installed
python 3, because it was the latest. Then when I was looking to connect
python and mysql together I found that there were no liberties that
supported python 3.
So I installed python 2.7 today in hopes to get it working but with no
luck. So for almost two days I have been ripping my hair out.
If anyone has any information about hooking up python and mysql please post.
